Accessing Categories and Groups
To manage categories and groups, follow these steps:
- Click your avatar in the top navigation panel.
- Select Control Panel from the dropdown menu.
- Click Categories and Groups.
Here, you can view all topics, as well as create new categories and groups, reorder them, or archive them.
Categories
Categories help you organize discussions by topic. You can create new categories to segregate different topics.
Creating a New Category
- Click Create New Category.
- Enter a Category Name.
- Click Save.
Once you've created a category, you can then create groups within it.
Groups
Groups are specific areas within a category where discussions can take place. You can create different types of groups with different visibility settings.
Creating a New Group
- From the ellipses or beneath an already created group, click Create New Group.
- A window will appear allowing you to configure the group.
Choose the Group Type
- Open Groups: Visible to all Members but not to Guests.
- Peer Group Recommendations (PGR) Groups: Visible to Members, and Guests can ask questions. Advocates (Members selected by an Administrator) can answer questions. Guests will not see Discussions created by Members in PGR groups; they only see Questions.
- Private Groups: Visible only to Members selected by the Administrator.
Enter Group Details
- Group Name: Enter the name of the new group (max 80 characters).
- Title: This title will appear on the group header for platform Members (max 80 characters). Guests will not see this title.
- Description: This description will show up on the group header for platform Members. Guests will not see this description.
Adding Private Images
You can upload images to display as thumbnails and headers for your group. These images are visible to platform Members.
- Supported formats: JPG, PNG, GIF, TIFF, HEIC, HEIF, AVIF, WEBP
- File size: <10MB
Adjust Image Overlays
You can adjust the image overlays using the sliders:
- Light Overlay: Controls the strength of the dark overlay on the image while using the light theme. Use this to improve the readability of text over the image.
- Dark Overlay: Controls the strength of the dark overlay on the image while using the dark theme. This can make the text more readable and reduce image brightness at night.
