Product Sentiment Analysis

Overview

The Product Sentiment Analysis tool is your one-stop shop for everything product-related. It synthesises all product feedback into a single, cohesive report, transforming raw review volumes into an evidence-based view of customer "love" and "pain points" at both the SKU and category levels.

By moving beyond simple star ratings, this tool provides the granular insights needed to build a data-driven product roadmap and optimise your e-commerce presence.

Why Use Product Sentiment Analysis?

  • Granular SKU Insights: Go beyond average ratings. Analyze sentiment scores and topic splits (positive vs. negative) to understand exactly why a specific product succeeds or fails.

  • Faster Time to Resolution: Stop manually sifting through thousands of reviews. The tool automatically surfaces what customers care about most, saving hours of manual labor.

  • Listing Optimisation: Identify "winning" features to highlight in product descriptions or address common "pain points" in your FAQs to reduce return rates.

  • Evidence-Based Roadmap: Use the Sentiment Impact Score to decide which product to fix next or identify emerging trends across your entire catalog.

You can find Product Sentiment Analysis by:

  1. Go to Analytics Tab

  2. Click Advanced Analytics

  3. Select Product Sentiment Analysis

The Summary Tab

The Summary Tab provides a holistic overview of your entire product line’s health.

Graph Description
Period Selection

Compare performance fluctuations over time. Selectable ranges include:

  • 0–3 Months | 0–6 Months | 0–9 Months | 0–12 Months | All Time

Sentiment Dial A high-level visual representation of your brand health, measured on a scale of -1 to 1.
Global Location of Reviews

An interactive map displaying review distribution.

  • Filters: Review count, positive sentiment, or negative sentiment.

  • Visuals: Bubbles represent locales; the size of the bubble indicates review volume. Clicking a locale (e.g., UK) shows the specific sentiment split.

Topics Over Time Track the top five most-mentioned topics (e.g., Ease of Use, Design, Price, Noise Level, Sizing). Example: You might notice "Price" staying stagnant for months before peaking in 2023, signaling a shift in customer sensitivity that requires action.
Best & Worst Performing Products This table uses a Weighted Average (combining review volume and sentiment score) to calculate a Sentiment Impact Score. This helps you identify which products are driving your reputation and which are dragging it down.
Top Positive & Negative Topics

Powered by Tag Analytics, this table provides summaries of what people are saying about specific themes. Note: Clicking any link in these tables will automatically take you to the Deep Dive tab, pre-filtered to that selection.

The Deep Dive Tabs

The Deep Dive section is split into two views: Topic Focus and Product Focus.

Graph Description
Action Matrix

Similar to Tag Analytics, this plots Sentiment Score against Topic Mentions.

  • Interactivity: Hover over a data point to see the topic name, mention count, leverage, and scale.

  • Cross-Filtering: Clicking a point filters every other diagram on the page to show only the data related to that specific topic or product.

Topic Performance & Verbatim
  • Topic List: Provides full transparency into every topic mentioned.

  • Drill Down: Access raw feedback snippets. Each entry includes the full comment, sentiment score, product title, and the original star rating.

Product Deep Dive Tab

This tab follows the same structure as the Topic Deep Dive but shifts the focus to Individual SKUs.

  • The points on the graph represent Products.

  • Use this to see which specific items are driving certain sentiments and to filter the entire dashboard by a single SKU for a 360-degree view of its performance.

Features & Alerts

  • Scheduling Function: Automate your reporting by scheduling the Sentiment Analysis report to be sent to your inbox regularly.

  • Alerts: Set custom alerts to be notified immediately when sentiment for a specific product or topic crosses a certain threshold.

Pro Tip: Use the Drill Down feature in the Topic Performance table to export raw verbatims. This is perfect for sharing "Voice of the Customer" examples directly with your product development or marketing teams.
